Kassidy & Hunter WEDDING at Trout Lake Retreat | Lehigh Valley Wedding Photographer
Real love becomes family.
And family becomes legacy.
Kassidy and Hunter’s story started in the most classic way—high school hallways in 2015, the kind of everyday proximity that turns into something real. After 6.5 years together, they stood at Trout Lake Retreat on 5/25/25 and made it official—surrounded by their people, their memories, and the life they’ve been building side-by-side.
Kassidy is an Occupational Therapist, Hunter is an X-ray Tech, and together they’re the kind of couple who just fits. At home it’s playing with Penelope, trying new restaurants, reading, sneaking away to the family cabin—simple things, done with intention.
We were honored to document their heartfelt celebration at Trout Lake Retreat—easy, emotional, and grounded in the kind of joy that comes from making a promise your future family will one day hear about, again and again.
a love that grew from hallways to home
High school sweethearts carry a particular kind of magic. They’ve watched each other grow up. They know the awkward phases, the big dreams, the quiet shifts that happen when you’re figuring out who you’re becoming.
Kassidy and Hunter built their relationship slowly, intentionally. They spent time at the family cabin, those weekends away where life slows down and you remember what matters. They welcomed Puppy Penelope, who quickly became the center of their world. They love trying new restaurants, curling up with a good book, and making time for family—little routines that add up to a really solid life.
And when Hunter decided it was time to propose, he knew exactly how to make it unforgettable.
He tied the ring box around Penelope’s collar.
It was personal. It was them. It was the kind of proposal that honors the life you’ve already built together while stepping into the life you’re about to create.
why trout lake retreat felt like home
Choosing a wedding venue is one of the most significant decisions a couple makes. For Kassidy and Hunter, Trout Lake Retreat offered everything they were looking for, natural beauty, intimacy, and a setting that felt like an extension of their love for the outdoors.
Nestled in the Pennsylvania landscape, Trout Lake Retreat provides couples with sweeping lakeside views, rustic charm, and a sense of peace that’s hard to find. It’s the kind of venue that doesn’t compete with your story. It holds space for it.
The property’s wooden dock stretching into the water became one of the most iconic backdrops of their day. We spent time there during couple portraits, capturing the way they held each other, unposed, unhurried, fully present.
These are the moments that matter most. The ones where you forget the camera is there and simply exist together.
the ceremony: a moment of quiet reverence
Officiated by Howard Monroe, Kassidy and Hunter’s ceremony was intimate and heartfelt. There were no grand theatrics, just two people speaking truth to each other in front of the people who matter most.
We’ve learned over fifteen years of photographing weddings that the most powerful moments are often the quietest ones. The way a groom’s hands shake just slightly as he holds his bride’s. The way a bride’s eyes fill with tears she’s been holding back all morning. The way guests lean forward, not wanting to miss a single word.
These are the frames that endure.
Michelle Turner, their florist, created arrangements that felt organic and effortless, flowing greenery and soft white blooms that echoed the natural surroundings without overpowering them. The flowers weren’t a statement. They were an accent to what was already beautiful.
portraits on the dock: connection over perfection

After the ceremony, we walked down to the dock with Kassidy and Hunter for portraits. As a lehigh valley wedding photographer team—and a wedding photographer lehigh valley couples come to for calm, honest coverage—we keep it simple. A little direction. A little space. Then we let you be yourselves.
The light was soft. The water was calm. And the two of them? Fully in it.

We photographed close and quiet—telephoto frames that hold onto the real stuff. Hands finding hands. A breath before a kiss. Laughter that breaks the tension.
These are the images your family keeps.
the reception: celebration with intention

David Kiss, their DJ, set the tone for a reception that felt lively yet still personal. We watched the room the way we always do—paying attention to the people who raised you, stood by you, and will still be telling these stories years from now.

the birds of a feather perspective
We photograph weddings the way we’d want our own family stories preserved—honest, calm, and built to last.
Birds Of A Feather Photography is a family-run team with 15 years of experience, trusted by couples across the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. We show up steady and present, we guide when you need it, we step back when you don’t—and we pay close attention to the people who made you who you are.
Because the legacy isn’t just the kiss on the dock.
It’s your parents’ faces when they realize the day is really here. It’s siblings squeezing your hands. It’s the friends who feel like cousins. It’s the kind of laughter you’ll recognize instantly, even decades from now, when you’re paging through albums with the next generation.
That’s why our approach as a lehigh valley wedding photographer—and a wedding photographer lehigh valley couples trust with the big stuff—is always story-first. Not trends. Not performance. Just the real version of your day, preserved as art and family history.
